Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a holistic medicine that supports the body’s healing in a range of conditions, from new and sudden problems, to chronic problems spanning many years. It stimulates and guides the body back to its natural state of health and well-being.

Homeopathy has been practised for over 200 years, in many countries around the world. It is a very gentle and natural medicine, with no side effects and long-lasting benefits. A well-chosen remedy improves the health of the whole body: easing the physical symptoms, allowing energy levels to rise and personalities to flourish when health is balanced again.

The first homeopathic consultation takes around one and a half hours. This time is needed to gather enough information to be able to find the most suitable remedy, perfectly matched to your pet. I need to understand the whole picture – your pet’s personality, emotions, likes and dislikes, life experiences and past medical history. The history from your conventional vet will provide details of all past and present treatments, and allow me to work together with the practice to ensure the best and most appropriate care for your pet.

It is important to discuss diet and possibly consider dietary supplements and nutraceuticals.

I will also perform a full clinical examination on your pet.

This is truly holistic, and individualised medicine. I have aspired to a holistic approach since graduating from vet school, and love it even more since becoming a homeopath. No two pets are the same, and a holistic is especially important in complicated and long-standing conditions.

Homeopathic medicinal products, commonly referred to as remedies, are chosen using the ‘like cures like’ principle. Naturally occurring substances, that can cause symptoms of disease in a healthy body, are used to treat very similar symptoms in a diseased body. Quinine is a toxic compound from the bark of the cinchona tree and is a long standing and common treatment for malaria. Symptoms of quinine toxicity include headaches, sweating, nausea, diarrhea and auditory and visual disturbances. These symptoms are notably similar to those of malaria. Onion, that makes eyes sting and water when chopped, can be used to treat similar symptoms when prescribed using Homeopathic principals.
